What a Performance!
This is a long post, please read to the end.
I have to say, once again a HUGE thank you to the 20+ performers who gave freely of their time and talent to create a wonderful concert last night. I was overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and generosity when I made the initial post about a possible concert.
I could have easily run for another three hours with those who I couldn’t fit in, and I’m equally grateful to them for their interest.
The initial ‘Sing for Ukraine’ idea has now developed and there have been half a dozen ‘satellite’ events in pubs and folk clubs around Greater Manchester, with more to follow in the coming week. In addition we have ‘Art for Ukraine’ ‘Poetry for Ukraine’ and ‘Quiz for Ukraine’ events adding to the pot. Please keep checking my updates for information of events coming up near you.
Perhaps the biggest development is that Mike Harding is staging an entire weekend festival to raise money for the funds over the weekend of 19th – 21st May in Settle. Further details to follow.
And now to the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
I’ve counted up all the income from Ticket Sales, Tee Shirt Sales, Other Merchandising’ the Raffle and individual donations and the grand total raised from last night’s concert is £4183 A tremendous effort of which everyone concerned can be duly proud.
But that’s not all. At the very end of the evening I was approached by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous who told me to check my bank balance. I looked on my phone and saw that this person had just made a donation of £2000 bringing the grand total to £6183.
