PETERLOO REMEMBERED

Yesterday's 'Peterloo Names' event saw hundreds of people gather in Albert Square, Manchester to hear the reading of the names of the victims of the Peterloo Massacre.

A respectful crowd brought with them placards bearing the names of some of the people who gathered on August 16th 1819 to listen to the great orator Henry Hunt.

What happened next has been described variously as 'Manchester's darkest hour' and 'Manchester's Tianennman Square'

This continued witness to those tragic events will, hopefully ensure that a Respectful, Informative and Permanent memorial is erected in Manchester before the bicentenary in 2019.
