Claire Turner

I have known Claire since 2014 when  she was Director of the Manchester Histories Festival. At that time I was unaware of her previous work in Manchester with Gay Pride, but saw her as the perfect fit for Manchester Histories, presuming her to be a history academic herself.

It is testimony to Claire's flexibility that she made the job her own and seemed so comfortable in the role, which she held successfully for five and a half years. During that time the festival has evolved into a wide ranging, week-long event and is on the verge of becoming an annual fixture in Manchester's cultural calendar.

Claire's managerial skills, organisational expertise and ability to remain calm under extreme pressure make her the ideal person to bring together the skills and ambitions of large numbers of other people into a cohesive whole, whilst ensuring that each individual has complete control of their own input.

Anyone looking for a co-ordinator with drive and enthusiasm should look to Claire.

Her professionalism and commitment will enhance any project, large or small.

I have over 20 years experience in the cultural and charity sector, specialising in heritage and the arts, creative events programming and delivery, and project management. I have worked with and for national charities, heritage and arts organisations, local authorities, tourism bodies and festivals.

I devise and deliver creative strategies, projects and events that bring together diverse communities, partners and organisations. In many cases these focus on transforming lives and creating long term social and cultural impacts. Many of these have been working with non-traditional cultural audiences, and have spanned from projects based in a local area to building connections and sharing learning between national and international partners.

I am passionate about and committed to the engagement of people in cultural activities and diversifying the range of people who take part through increased access, recognition of their own skills and learning, and the development of unusual partnerships
